About Crochet Crafty
Crochet Crafty started with a simple frustration: most beginner crochet resources aren’t really written for beginners. They assume you already know what “working in the round” means, or they bury a genuinely useful pattern under abbreviations nobody bothers to explain first, and a new crafter is left guessing at the exact moment they most need clarity. We built this site to be the resource we wish had existed — one that meets you exactly where you are, even if where you are is “I’ve never held a hook before.”
Our mission comes down to three things: patterns that work when you follow them exactly as written, gear recommendations that are actually honest, and zero invented “hacks” that sound clever on paper but fall apart the moment you try them with real yarn in your hands. How we work
Before anything is published, it’s tested. Every pattern on Crochet Crafty is worked from start to finish using an ordinary hook and everyday yarn — the same kind you’d grab at a local craft store, not something special-ordered for a photo. If a step confuses us during testing, it gets rewritten until it doesn’t, because if it trips us up, it will trip up a beginner too.
The same standard applies to our gear reviews. We recommend hooks, yarn, and kits based on genuine use and careful research, not manufacturer marketing or recycled affiliate copy. If something isn’t good, we say so — a product’s affiliate status never decides whether we recommend it or how we rate it. Where a stitch or term needs unpacking, we’d rather explain it in full than send you looking it up elsewhere; that’s what Read & Understand is for.
